Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of your teeth, gums, and smile through various aesthetic treatments. Whether you want to correct discoloration, close gaps, reshape teeth, or create a complete smile makeover, cosmetic procedures can dramatically enhance your confidence. Our cosmetic treatments combine artistry with advanced dental techniques to create natural-looking results. From subtle improvements to dramatic transformations, we help you achieve the smile you've always wanted.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells that cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers can correct a wide range of cosmetic issues including chips, cracks, gaps, misalignment, and severe discoloration. These durable restorations are crafted from high-quality porcelain that mimics the natural translucency of tooth enamel. With proper care, veneers can last 10-15 years while providing a beautiful, uniform smile.

Cosmetic Questions

What People Actually Ask Before a Smile Makeover

Straight answers to the questions patients tend to ask quietly. The full dental FAQ covers 45 more.

Do veneers damage your natural teeth?

Traditional porcelain veneers do require removing a thin layer of enamel — usually about half a millimetre, roughly the thickness of a fingernail — so the veneer sits flush instead of looking bulky. Enamel does not grow back, so that part is permanent: the tooth will always need a veneer or crown on it from that point on. Some cases qualify for minimal-prep or no-prep veneers where little or no enamel is touched. Which option applies depends on how your teeth are positioned to begin with, and that is worth settling before anything is prepared rather than after.

Can you whiten crowns, veneers, or existing fillings?

No. Whitening gel works on natural tooth structure, and porcelain and composite do not respond to it at all. This matters most for front teeth: if you whiten your natural teeth around an older crown or filling, that restoration will suddenly look darker by comparison even though nothing about it changed. The usual sequence is to whiten first, let the shade settle for a couple of weeks, then replace the visible restorations to match the new colour. Doing it the other way around means matching new work to teeth you are about to change.

Can I fix one chipped front tooth without redoing my whole smile?

Often, yes. A single chip is usually repairable with composite bonding in one visit — the material is shaped and polished directly onto the tooth and colour-matched to its neighbours. The honest caveat is blending: a lone restoration on a front tooth sits next to teeth with their own translucency and surface texture, and matching that convincingly is a skill question, not a materials question. If the surrounding teeth are already worn or discoloured, treating just the one can draw the eye to it rather than away. We will tell you which situation you are in.

What can be done about a gummy smile?

It depends on why the gums show. If the gum tissue simply sits low over teeth that are otherwise a normal length, gum contouring reshapes the gumline and exposes more of the tooth — a short procedure with a few days of tenderness. If the teeth themselves are worn short, adding length with bonding or veneers addresses it instead. If the cause is the jaw or the upper lip's movement, cosmetic dentistry alone will not solve it, and we will say so rather than treating around it. A quick photo and measurement at a consultation sorts out which one you have.

How do I pick a shade of white that doesn't look obvious?

The most common regret in cosmetic dentistry is going too bright. Teeth that read as natural are not uniformly white — they are slightly translucent at the edges and marginally warmer near the gumline. A shade that looks great under a dental light can look startling in daylight next to your skin tone and the whites of your eyes. We choose shades against your face rather than against a chart on the wall, and for veneers you can preview the result in a temporary mock-up before the final ones are made.
